RELATIONAL AGGRESSION, SELF-INJURIOUS BEHAVIOR AND COPING STRATEGIES IN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

The objective of the study was to explore the relationship between relational aggression, selfinjurious behavior and coping strategies in university students. The cross- s e c t i o n a l study was used in this study. The data of the study was collected through convenient sampling method. For this particular study total 300 including 150 male and 150 participants were selected from different university located in the Gujranwala, Sialkot and Lahore through convenient sampling technique. Data was collected using Relational Aggression Scale, SelfInjurious behavior of Self-Harm Tendencies Scale and Coping Strategies Scale in University Students. Data was analyzed using SPSS 20. The 1 st hypothesis of the present study is approved and the P<.05 which shows that there is significant relationship existed between relational aggression, self-injurious behavior and coping strategies in university students. The 2 nd hypothesis of the present study is approved and the P<.05 (P value is .000) which shows that relational aggression would predict self-injurious behavior and coping strategies will be differing significantly in university students”. Findings reveal that gender has impact in university student’s relational aggression, self-injurious behavior and coping strategies. University students may have relational aggression which led to selfinjurious behavior, whereas coping strategies acted as protected factor.
